ARGUS Training Curriculum

 

ARGUS On-Site Training - (includes both of the following):

Basic Training Session
This course provides an overview of the ARGUS application.
  • Learn how information is organized
  • Navigate the ARGUS interface efficiently
  • Gain expertise with main data entry windows: Object window, Activity      window, and Party window
  • Utilize the Lexicon to create and maintain a controlled vocabulary for     effective data entry and retrieval
  • Use wizards to streamline accessions, loans, location changes, and other     processes
  • Perform searches with query by form
  • Manage lists
  • Generate printed reports from ARGUS' library of ready-to-use Standard     Reports
Class length:              3 Days
Who should attend:   All ARGUS users
Prerequisites:            Working knowledge of the Windows® operating
                                       system

ARGUS Project Coordinator Session
Learn how to configure ARGUS to meet the unique needs of your institution.
  • Create custom SuperFields
  • Set up templates ("Record Types") to streamline and improve data entry     processes
  • Define data entry options for term-controlled fields
  • Customize tab labels
  • Remove tabs from data entry windows
  • Assign Tasks ("To Do" items) to records and staff members
     automatically
  • Write your own "help" for data entry fields
  • Manage user accounts
  • Implement database security functions (grant or restrict user access)

Who should attend:   ARGUS Project Managers
Prerequisites:            ARGUS Basic Training

Site Module
This session introduces the five data entry windows included in the Site Module:
  • Site window
  • Survey window
  • Project window
  • Site Document window
  • Transect window

Prerequisites:            ARGUS Basic Training

 

Web Access Module
This course provides an overview of Web Access Module configuration features.
  • Gain a general understanding of how the Web Access Module relates to
     and works with ARGUS
  • Organize Pictorial Tours
  • Define Search Wizard options
  • Write custom text for visitors
  • Incorporate images linked to ARGUS records
  • Control visitor access to ARGUS data via lists
  • Specify fonts and background colors
Class length:              2 Hours On-site; also available On-line
Who should attend:   ARGUS Project Managers; ARGUS users who will
                                      configure Web Access Module. Not designed for
                                      webmaster or other technical staff members.
Prerequisites:            ARGUS Basic Training

 

Conservation Module
  • Link Conservation records to Object records
  • Record data for Conservation requests, examinations, proposals, and
     treatments
Class length:              4 Hours On-site; also available On-line
Who should attend:   Conservators who use ARGUS; ARGUS users who
                                      work with conservation information
Prerequisites:            ARGUS Basic Training

 

Circulation Module
  • Define circulation policies: privileges, restrictions, duration, fees
  • Check objects out/in
  • Identify objects that may (or may not) be circulated
  • Maintain records for borrowers
Class length:              2 Hours On-site; also available On-line
Who should attend:   ARGUS users who work with circulation processes
Prerequisites:            ARGUS Basic Training

 

Bar Code Module
  • Learn which ARGUS fields support bar code data
  • Assign values to bar codes
  • Review wizards used to import/export bar code data (this course does
    not cover the process of importing or exporting bar code data gathered
    via a remote/external device)
Class length:              1 Hour On-site; also available On-line
Who should attend:   ARGUS users who work with bar code process
Prerequisites:            ARGUS Basic Training

 

Report Writing for ARGUS - PowerBuilder reports
  • Customized training session
  • Learn to write reports/exports for use with ARGUS
Class length:             To be determined
                                     $1,200 per day + airfare. On-site only.
Who should attend:   ARGUS users who create reports
Prerequisites:            ARGUS Basic Training

 

Customized Training/Consultation
Questor staff is available for consultation in the use of all aspects of Questor's product line, and related third party products, including advanced issues in the integration of ARGUS systems into collections management procedures and practices and special project consultation.
