Questor Systems
offers consulting services in collection management for ARGUS clients
and non-clients. Our services concentrate in two main areas: Museum
Practices and Computer Technology.
Museum
Practice Consulting provides an institution with a complete
review of their current procedures, recommendations about those procedures,
and extensive information about standard museum practices involved in
collection management. Questor staff have consulted for private art
collections, foundations, corporate collections, house museums, and
historical societies, as well as large and small museums across the
country and in Europe. This consulting specializes in registration methods,
preservation/conservation, collections management technology, and public
access programs. The consulting usually consists of an onsite visit
for creation of a survey of the institution's procedures and collections.
After this initial analysis, the consultant will generate a report on
findings and provide suggestions accompanied with collections management
forms, professional literature, and implementation plans. During the
implementation period Questor staff will provide phone support and additional
documentation as necessary.
Computer
Technology Consulting is designed to provide an institution
with a complete analysis of their current computer holdings, future
computer needs and a long range plan for technology. This service will
provide institutions with networking solutions for proposed and current
systems. This is accomplished by an onsite visit, a report on findings,
and a proposed plan for future technology. Visits would range from two
to four days depending on the size of the institution and current computer
systems in place. Part of the report generated from the visit would
include a master list of vendors and products that Questor finds reliable.
Should the institution so wish, Questor is willing to provide complete
consulting and implementation for the entire computer system. Our experienced
staff will purchase and install all necessary hardware and software
at the institutional site before recommending a local company to provide
upkeep and maintenance.
